Who we are

wedin is built by Harry Randell and Kerry Lyne, who are jointly the data controllers for anything you give us. Our address is First Floor Flat, 20 Leopold Road, London SW19 7BD. If you want to talk to us about anything on this page, email hello@wedin.io and a person will answer.

What we collect

Almost all of it is what you type into one of our two forms. The one exception is the country you are in, which we record when you join the waitlist — see below. We do not buy data about you, and we do not build a profile of you from anywhere else. What you write in a form comes to us and is used for nothing else. Your name, your email address and your message are never passed to our analytics, and the only other companies that touch them are the ones listed under Who else sees it.

• If you join the waitlist: your first name, last name and email address. Your wedding date if you choose to give it — that field is optional. We also record which country your connection appears to be in: the two-letter code only, never your IP address, so we can see where the people interested in wedin are.
• If you answer our follow-up question: whatever you tell us about what you find hard about planning. That step is optional too.
• If you use the contact form: your name, email address and your message.

Why we collect it, and our legal basis

We use your name and email to tell you when wedin is ready for you to use and to reply when you write to us. That is on the basis of your consent: you gave us your details to be contacted, and you can withdraw that at any time by asking us to remove you.

We read what you tell us about your planning to decide what to build next. We rely on our legitimate interest in improving the product for that, and we will never publish or quote what you write in a way that identifies you.

We also use what you give us — your wedding date, and anything you tell us about how your planning is going — to decide who we can offer early access to. There are only a hundred places, so joining the waitlist is not a guarantee of one. We look at who wedin is likely to be most useful to at this stage: if your wedding has already happened, or is so close that the tool could not help in time, you are unlikely to be in the first round. A person makes that decision, not a machine, and not getting a place this time does not remove you from the list.

When you join the waitlist you are asking us to email you when early access opens. That is the only email everyone on the list gets.

Offers and updates from us are a separate choice, and you only get them if you ticked the box asking for them. You can withdraw that whenever you like.

Every email we send carries an unsubscribe link. If you tell us to stop, we stop.

We do not sell your details, and we do not pass them to anyone else for their own marketing.

Who else sees it

This site is hosted by Vercel, who also provide the visitor counting described under Cookies and tracking below. The waitlist itself is stored by Supabase, in an EU region, so the details you give us stay in Europe. Our email is sent by Resend, also from within the EU, and the mailbox we read it in is Google Workspace — so if you write to us, or reply to something we sent you, your message sits there like any other email. All four process your data on our instructions and cannot use it for anything of their own.

Vercel is a United States company and this site is served from their Washington DC region, so your data is processed outside the UK. That transfer is covered by Vercel’s data processing addendum, which applies automatically to data subject to UK and EU data protection law and relies on the standard contractual clauses.

Google is a United States company too, and their Workspace data processing terms cover our mailbox the same way.

How long we keep it

Two years, or until you ask us to delete them — whichever comes first. That applies to waitlist details and to contact form messages alike. Two years because a waitlist is only useful while you are still planning a wedding; after that we have no reason to hold your details.

Not being offered a place in early access does not delete you. You stay on the list so we can tell you when wedin is ready for everyone, which is what you asked for when you joined.

When that time is up we delete your details. Copies may survive briefly in routine backups, which we do not use for anything else and which are overwritten on a schedule. If you have asked us never to contact you again, we keep the least we can — enough to recognise you and honour that.

Cookies and tracking

This site sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser. There is no advertising script, no tracking pixel and no third-party embed. That is why you were not asked to accept anything when you arrived.

We do use Vercel Web Analytics to count visits. It is deliberately the cookieless kind: it saves nothing on your device and builds no identifier that lasts beyond the day, so it cannot recognise you on a later visit or follow you to any other site. It tells us how many people came, roughly where from, and whether they were on a phone or a computer — never who they were.

It also records two things you do on the FAQ page: what you type into the search box, and which questions you open. We use that to work out what we have failed to explain. Nothing you type into a form is ever sent to analytics, as set out under What we collect above.

If any of this changes we will say so here before it takes effect, and ask you first where the law requires it.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it if it is wrong, delete it, restrict what we do with it, or send it to you in a portable form. You can object to us using it, and withdraw your consent at any time.

Email hello@wedin.io and we will deal with it within one month. It costs you nothing and we will not ask why.

If you think we have handled your data badly, please tell us so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain directly to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

Keeping it safe

We keep what you give us to the minimum, limit who can see it, and use reputable providers to store it. No system is perfectly secure, and we would rather say that plainly than promise otherwise — but if anything ever goes wrong in a way that affects you, we will tell you and the ICO as the law requires.

Changes to this policy

If we change anything meaningful we will update the date at the top and, where it affects you, email the address you gave us. We will not quietly broaden what we do with your data.
